CIRANO’s mission is to contribute to strategic decision-making by its government, quasi-public, and private partners through the production and transfer of high-value-added academic knowledge. In an environment marked by international trade and geopolitical tensions, inflationary pressures, and increased budgetary constraints, this mission takes on particular importance.

Released on December 19, 2025, the 8th edition of the CIRANO Barometer provides an in-depth overview of Québecers’ perceptions, concerns and levels of trust regarding 57 major issues and projects. The findings highlight persistent cost-of-living pressures, low confidence in government action and the emergence of growing social and geopolitical divides.

PERSPECTIVES is CIRANO’s journal for the dissemination and valorization of research. Written in a format that is accessible to a wider audience, the articles in PERSPECTIVES provide visibility to the work and expertise of CIRANO's research community.
