On September 30, 2026, the documentary “Nid-de-poule” will be presented at Théâtre Outremont. Directed by Paul-Maxime Corbin, the film explores the economic and societal issues surrounding the maintenance of road infrastructure in Quebec.
Following the screening, Pierre-Carl Michaud, Professor at HEC Montréal and President and CEO of CIRANO, will join actor Eve Duranceau and director Paul-Maxime Corbin for a discussion on citizens’ relationship with public goods, collective choices regarding infrastructure, and shared responsibilities in addressing the challenges surrounding infrastructure maintenance.
The documentary draws in part on the CIRANO report “Plan québécois des infrastructures : comparaison interprovinciale et soutenabilité,” published in 2023 and co-authored by Pierre-Carl Michaud, Louis Lévesque, Marcelin Joanis, Jonathan Brasseur and Quentin Winstel. The authors examine Quebec’s infrastructure plan from two perspectives: its financial sustainability and its impact on the condition of infrastructure, including through the asset maintenance deficit.
